Awareness Through Movement Class
6:30-8:00 pm
4 week Tuesday class begins tonight

Greetings Friends!
In Awareness Through Movement lessons, people engage in precisely structured movement explorations that involve thinking, sensing, moving, and imagining. Many are based on developmental movements and ordinary functional activities. Some are based on more abstract explorations of joint, muscle, and postural relationships. The lessons consist of comfortable, easy movements that gradually evolve into movements of greater range and complexity. There are hundreds of Awareness Through Movement lessons contained in the Feldenkrais Method that vary, for all levels of movement ability, from simple in structure and physical demand to more difficult lessons.

Awareness Through Movement lessons attempt to make one aware of his/her habitual neuromuscular patterns and rigidities and to expand options for new ways of moving while increasing sensitivity and improving efficiency.

A major goal of Awareness Through Movement is to learn how one’s most basic functions are organized.

FREE CHILDREN's CLINIC
10:00 - 4:00 pm
ABM Free Children's Clinic

The Free Children's Clinics provide children and families with experience and information about the Anat Baniel Method(sm) for Children. Fully certified Anat Baniel Method for Children practitioners are volunteering their time so that you can discover what this work can do for your child.

Your child will receive individual attention and you will have the opportunity to ask questions and pick up literature and demonstration videos.

We are committed to making it possible for all children with special needs to have access to the benefits of the Anat Baniel Method for Children.

More about the Clinics:

With training in the Anat Baniel Method for Children, based on the work of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, we have developed the skills to make a difference in the lives of children with disabilities.

We know it is difficult to choose where to spend your time, energy, and money to provide the best opportunities you can for your disabled child. We are offering one free lesson to each child, as a way for the parents and children to experience first-hand what this work is like and what it can do for a child with special needs.

Each child will get the full attention of a trained, certified Anat Baniel Method for Children Practitioner. Lessons are 30 minutes in length. In this clinic, lessons with 2 to 4 children are conducted simultaneously in the same room. We have found that children respond extremely well to having peers nearby who are going through the same process; parents enjoy exchanging notes with other parents; and others interested in the work are given the opportunity to observe the practitioners givinig lessons. Informational materials will be available, and DVD examples of the work can be viewed and purchased.

To reach long-term goals it is suggested that you contact a qualified practitioner for their recommendations.

Please contact Patricia Holman, Guild Certified Feldenkrais, and Anat Baniel Method for children practitioner to schedule you appointment today!

FELDENKRAIS GUILD ANNUAL CONFERENCE
8:30 - 9:45 am
Awareness Through Movement Morning Sessions

VISION, SEEING & MOVEMENT

You are invited to begin each day of the Conference, Sunday through, Thursday, with your choice of a variety of FREE Awareness Through Movement® lessons inspired by Chicago’s architecture: using gravity, not fighting gravity, to stand tall, to reach outward and by Chicago’s waves: unconfined space to breathe and to playfully explore. All presenters are Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner.

Learning in Awareness Through Movement lessons is a unique experience. Students are encouraged to move in a slow and gentle way, paying attention to sensation so that they stay within the realm of their own comfort. Instructions are given to guide the student’s awareness so they may notice how they are doing what they are doing and how the whole of themselves can be involved in the movement patterns being explored in the lesson.

It is not necessary to register in advance for these classes. Classes are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Please go to the Regis Hall Registration table for directions to the class of your choice. Come prepared to move in comfortable clothing and bring a blanket or mat that will cover no more than a 6’x6’ area.
