What Is The Feldenkrais Method? The Feldenkrais Method® is most importantly, about improvement. Improvement of your pain & sickness, improvement of your quality of life, improvement in all areas. It's practical structure is educational, & non-medical in nature. It reinforces the intelligence of your nervous system to discover new ways of moving. The practitioner guides you through a self-discovery process that is similar to the learning style of an infant and toddler; either through hands-on guidance called Functional Integration®, or a more self-directed group process, called Awareness through Movement®. History of Feldenkrais Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais developed this work from the 1940's through the 1970's. Like many innovators, the synthesis of his ideas took a circuitous route. He excelled at languages, was a superb athlete and an accomplished martial artist. He earned his doctorate in physics at the Sorbonne in Paris and became the first westerner to introduce Judo outside of Japan. His innovative genius developed in the context of other great somatic philosophers such as Gerda Alexandar, Ida Rolf, FM Alexandar, & Mabel Ellsworth Todd to name just a few.
